The Rent A CFI Philosophy

Your mock check ride will be scheduled in a two-hour slot, which you will reserve at booking. However, mock check rides may run longer if needed to fully cover and dissect the content. Most oral exams last 2–3 hours, with CFI check rides lasting 4–6 hours. Just like the real check ride, the better prepared you are, the shorter the exam will likely be.

Before your session, you will receive a plan of action that includes a cross-country route from the airport where you’ll be taking your FAA exam, along with a weight and balance scenario. You’ll be expected to plan the flight as if it were your actual check ride. When booking, please include the type of aircraft you’ll be flying and the exam airport in the notes. If you forget, no worries—just send that information to info@rentacfi.com.

Expect your mock check ride to be more challenging than the real one, as this ensures you are thoroughly prepared. Be ready to present your check ride documents, including your pilot and medical certificates, required endorsements, and aircraft logbooks (as applicable). A full list will be emailed to you along with your plan of action once your session is reserved.

At the end of the session, we will debrief and highlight areas that can be refined before your actual check ride. I look forward to working with you!
